I'm reminded of Paul's words in 2 Cor 12:9, where the Lord speaks to him about an infirmity he was suffering, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Paul's response is much like Toms: "Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
